I met Cosy when we were both at a summer music camp – me as a participant, she as faculty. I loved her verve, her wit, her ability to connect with anybody, and her amazing songwriting and performing.
Although she’s not an example of an artist who’s “rolling in the dough,” she’s definitely thriving, and she’s been doing her music full-time since she dropped out of college.
As you’ll hear in this interview, Cosy likes living very simply, and has chosen this lifestyle. It helps that her partner (also an extremely talented singer/songwriter/performer) is the same way.
Remember the video, What Does It Mean to Thrive? If you haven’t watched it or done that lesson yet, it’s the perfect compliment to this interview.
Cosy also shares her experience working with a corporate record label (hint: it wasn’t what she thought it was going to be). Since you’re here, it’s a good bet you’re not stuck in the “Cinderella” mindset of looking for a “gatekeeper” to make you rich. Cosy’s a great example of someone who wasn’t happy with how the gatekeeper relationship worked out, and took her career into her own hands.
