I love Deborah’s story: at age 58 she’s been making a living from her music for the past 2 1/2 years. What an inspiration! If you’re thinking you’re too old, think again!
For some artists, having a part-time, or even a full-time job doing something that’s not your art, works out well, giving them a sense of financial stability so they can concentrate on doing their creative thing without the stress of having to pay the bills from it.
DJ figured out that, for her, splitting her attention between her music and other work just wasn’t working. Despite incredibly negative and hurtful feedback from “expert authorities,” DJ managed to reconnect with her music and share it with the world in a way that feeds her soul as well as her body.
DJ’s advice: “Follow your heart and be yourself. Satisfy yourself.”
If she could change anything? “I would re-parent myself to be more confident earlier.”
