I discovered Erin Smith’s art in a funky furniture and housewares shop on Bainbridge Island near Seattle, but her work is sold in stores and boutiques all over the world. When I asked Erin about her success, I said I was sure it hadn’t happened overnight. “You know,” she said, “it kinda did happen overnight.”
She obviously wasn’t counting the many years she put in as a waitress, doing weekend art shows, and barely breaking even (or losing money) on wholesale shows. Once things finally took off, though, they did go very quickly!
Erin has worked very hard to get where she is, and there are some gems in this interview that any artist can learn from.
